A Fabulous February!

While it didn't seem overly busy, we had a fairly full, and fabulous February!  Mostly, I think, because the weather was amazing.  As in, multiple days of 65-72 degrees.  We pulled out summer clothes.  The boys wore shorts and short sleeves.  We went on 6-mile hikes, played at parks, visited the zoo, and pretended that summer came in a 2 week-chunk a few months early.  It's just what we needed.

The boys had a sleep over in the midst of it all, and it was great fun!  I love seeing these three boys become better and better friends, it warms my heart.

Valentines day was wonderful.  We don't make a big deal out of it -- cards and candy in the morning and we call it good -- but this year Scot was working so the boys and I headed down the springs to spend time with my folks.  We ended up heading to Cripple Creek (a mountain town a little over an hour away) to see their Ice Festival and ice sculptures.  It wasn't quite what we had pictured, but the boys had the excitement of sliding on an ice-slide, watching men chisel away at ice, and sitting in a Vietnam-era chopped.  We had a packed lunch with us and stopped on our way out of town for a picnic lunch in the sunshine with a gorgeous view (we took the scenic way back).

Scot and I celebrated 10 years of dating in January, but we actually celebrated this past month with a nice dinner and trip to see Swan Lake, preformed by the Russian National Ballet.  Oh my.  Not only was it a treat to get really dressed up and go out for an event like this, but the ballet itself was breathtaking!  Even if I see it at a larger venue with a more elaborate back-drop, the ballet itself will never compare to what we saw -- there's just something about the first time, I guess!

The end of February saw us all huddled inside, sipping hot cocoa, playing games, and doing lots of school.  Oh, and lots of sledding with Scot!  Such a contrast to how the month started, but I'll take it.  It is winter after all!

Here are some quick pictures!
