The boys have always been interested in fire engines, fire houses, and firemen. Last week, they got a double dose of their favorite.
We had the pleasure of going on an elaborate tour of a fire station, complete with sirens, spraying water from the hose, a full fire-suit demonstration, climbing in/on/around the ladder truck, and hats. Of course, the hats were the highlight!
We also were able to go to this years Firetruck Muster. There were games, a jaws-of-life demo, water spraying from the tippy-top of the extended ladder truck, a fire engine ride, lots and lots and firemen in suits, and half a dozen antique trucks. It was quite and adventure, and such an adventure is always more fun with friends. Especially if they're the friends we went with last year!
I will sing joyful praises and be filled with excitement like a guest at a banquet. Psalm 63:5

a super-fast pictoral catch-up
We're here!
We're doing great after the busiest month of our lives.
Lots of hours spent at the house cleaning, painting, tearing stuff down, painting, sanding, painting, taking off doors only to put them back on after we were done...painting.
But now it's June. We're moved in. We've had visitors. Every square inch has been painted. I've cooked meals in the kitchen (and we sit at the table instead of on the picnic blanket like the weeks we were working so late we ate at the house and only went home to sleep). Most of all, we're loving the new house. It hasn't been a week yet, but it feels like home.
Here are some snap-shots of the past month to catch you up.
The boys always have a blast at my folks! Playing in dirt or riding "Goodyear", it's a grand time.
Mother's Day this year was the day before we started hard/long/I've never-worked-so-much type days at the house. Little did I know the rest and relaxation from Mother's Day would be so needed! We headed down to my folks so I could wake up and give MY mom a good-morning-happy-mother's-day hug! Loved it.
Moving day dawned clear and bright. With helping hands from guys from church, we were loaded and unloaded in 2 hours flat (only furniture was moved -- I spent the week prior to moving-day taking loads of stuff over to the new house and unloading it all into new homes! The beauty of moving 3 miles away: not using a single box!) The boys were such great helpers through the WHOLE process!

(Because this is just who we are)

And because it's June, our favorite Wilseys are in town for the month and we have lots and lots of dates on the calendar to see them! They showed up to our house the day after we moved in and we had a blast catching up and playing! Love these kids and how much they've grown. It's going to be a full (and wonderful) month!
And just a little peek into our home. This is my view standing at the island-thing in the kitchen. (Although, now that hanging lamp is gone) -- life will happen here and I'm so excited to live it!
And...the living room view from the stairs. Same stuff, just different walls.
